15th Anniversary Short Course & Forum 2024

A great success of this year's 15th short course "Coating and Drying of Thin Films“ and 8th “Thin Film Technology Forum”

It was, again, full house in 2024! In the Short Course as well as the Forum we had nationally and internationally most renowned scientists and speakers as instructors in front of an audience from mostly European countries!

Both events took place from June 3rd – 7th 2024. The program can be found here. Highlights of the week were talks and contributions from former TFT Ph.D. students on Monday (Dr.-Ing. Schmidt-Hansberg, BASF), Wednesday (Dipl. Ing. Cavadini), Thursday (Dr.-Ing Kumberg) and Friday (Dr.-Ing. Raupp), from industry (Varta, ACC, Leclanché) and academia (Univ. Cambridge, iPAT TU Braunschweig, Fraunhofer FFB, ZSW).

With the 15th Short Course we celebrated as well: „15 years anniversary of the TFT group” at KIT!
In 2009 the first professorship for Thin Film Technology (TFT) at KIT was founded. It was supported for 5 years with 3 million euros by a consortium of the companies BASF, BAYER, and ROCHE within the newly founded KIT and its KIT Elite Future Concept I in 2009. Prof. Knebel (Head of KIT Divsion III) congratulated at the TFT Forum to the 15 years anniversary. Prof. Schabel outlined the highlights from 15 years impact of the TFT group in an anniversary talk.

Starting from the beginning of TFT in 2009, he showed the fast increase in numbers of papers, master thesises and Ph.D. students including already successfully finished dissertation theses and as well the “thin films” at TFT in progress…
